What is Flavours of Canada?  Anita Stewart's Flavours of Canada™ is the brand that author and culinary activist  Anita Stewart  created in order to launch The World's Longest Barbecue which in turn is expanding this year into Food Day Canada, a coast to coast to coast celebration of great regional foods!

Why?  No other such day exists. By grilling Canadian food you're helping to establish a real food day for Canada.  It is a unique and ultimately Canadian grass roots celebration of Canada’s agricultural bounty and a wonderful way to share our food stories with each other across the nation.

Is it easy?  There are no fees and no rules of any sort to participate other than that simple requirement to cook Canadian and share our pride-filled menus and stories.The results have been magnificent and, over the years, tens of thousands have joined the party

When is it?  August 1, 2009

Where is it?  Wherever you are on any continent - in your back yard or at the fairground...on your deck... or your balcony....by the lake or in a campground.

Can I join in?   YES!  Anyone, anywhere can join in as long as the food that's barbecued is from your home region of Canada.  And don't forget the locally brewed frosty beverages and fabulous wines.

How?  It's simple.  Simply shop from your own region and create a party that celebrates the farmers and fishers of Canada.  The post your menus here!

What if I'm not living in Canada at the moment?   Not a problem.  Celebrate with us anyway and post your rendition of a Canadian summer meal.
